TERI BLODGETT — D · E · S · I · R · E
OCTOBER 21– NOVEMBER 20, 2005

Teri Blodgett is a California native but has lived in Arkansas for some time. 1987 she returned to Napa, now working as a full-time artist.

“D·E·S·I·R·E” presents Teri’s large paintings on canvas juxtaposed with a selection of manipulated photographic works showing the three different directions she takes to create her thought-provoking art.

Teri’s work is based on her own, outstanding black and white photography, for which she does all the processing herself. The photos are the starting point to her series of sensitively hand-colored originals. When going into another direction, she uses special paints to produce certain, sometimes strange, surface effects on her enlargements. The resulting pictures are reproduced and printed in editions of only two or three pieces. Her most abstract work, finally, is achieved in a third way by reproducing photos on bigger canvases and then painting on these, turning them into a complete different kind of fantastic new large scale originals.
