D.A. METROV — METROVSPECTIVE
JANUARY 25 – FEBRUARY 4, 2007

Coinciding with the 22nd Santa Barbara Film Festival internationally collected fine arts painter and experimental video artist Metrov — who also has a reputation as a screenwriter, novelist, and filmmaker — is exhibited in a retrospective of 30 years of his paintings.

Metrov’s early work was praised for its graceful realism. Later, his paintings became primitive, and for a while, he even experimented with total abstraction. His current exhibit at Artamo Gallery in Santa Barbara is a culmination of many years of artistic evolution. His paintings express a unique combination of his previous styles in a manner, which some European critics call ‘Termite Art’. Also on exhibit will be some experimental art videos.

Metrov has exhibited in New York, Rome, Los Angeles, and Sun Valley, Idaho. His work has been collected by foreign dignitaries, major art collectors and celebrities such as Mick Jagger, the late Margaux Hemingway, Bianca Jagger, Mel Brooks and Mr. Patterson Sims, former Curator of Painting at the Whitney Museum in New York.
