TEXT & IMAGE
JUNE 3–28· 2009

Many artists use texts, words, ciphers in their work — often disguising a deeper meaning, covering stories, but sometimes also just and only for reasons of aesthetics. But even in these cases text elements, are true reflections of our time. We see billboards and signs wherever we go; advertising and propaganda are omnipresent.

In this show Artamo Gallery presents work by artists, who blurred or extended the boundaries in their creation of art, integrating type, text and words in their work. Participating artists are Janet Bothne from Los Angeles, Jack N. Mohr, from Santa Barbara, and also Ray Phillips and Michelle Y. Williams, both from Houston, Texas, and Sarah Earle as a guest from the midwest.
