INTIMATE SPACES
—
MICHAEL KESSLER & MICHAEL MOON November 3–29, 2010
An exhibition with new paintings by Michael Kessler from Santa Fe and
Michael Moon from Los Angeles. Both artists draw the inspiration for their
work from intimate spaces.
Kessler, fascinated by the serene landscape — an open desert, a
lone beach, or a silent forest — translates such impressions into
abstract works taking forms and shapes from nature, also their colors,
often obscuring deeper parts in grid-like patterns. These paintings are
like metaphors reminding us of the patchwork of modern civilization that
continuously takes over, covering open natural spaces, piece by piece.
Michael Moon, on the other side, deeply explores the world of the natural
inner space and soul in a quest for expressive calmness and tranquility.
His paintings — in a unique artistic style — reflect in abstract
images the pathways through time and life.
